What is ScanIt @ H?

ScanIt @ H is the free Harrison Libraries document delivery service that provides PDF copies from many items on our shelves to current faculty, staff, and students and Emeriti faculty at the University of Hartford. Requests are made through ILLiad @ H, where you can also submit interlibrary loan requests to obtain materials from other libraries that aren't available here.

What can I request through ScanIt @ H?

You can request book chapters and journal articles from most of the Allen and Mortensen libraries' print and microform collections.

Exceptions: copies from material in special collections, including Archives and Course Reserves, entire books or pieces of music, and articles or chapters longer than 50 pages in length can't be requested through ScanIt @ H. Please visit us and use one of our scanners or photocopiers to copy what you need.

How do I know if the Libraries own something I'm looking for?

Check the Harrison Libraries catalog to see if we own a book or journal volume in print or on microform. If you're looking for an article, check our eJournal Locator also--if we have online access to the journal title you may be able to find a PDF of the article you need.

Are there any copyright restrictions on material I request through ScanIt @ H?

Yes, US Copyright laws apply to copies the library supplies through ScanIt @ H and what we post for your use can't be copied or distributed to others. Please note that copyright law prevents us from supplying copies of multiple articles from a single journal issue or a large number of chapters from a single book.

How do I place a ScanIt @ H request?

If you know that the item is on the shelf and is something our policies will allow us to supply to you, just log in to ILLiad @ H, complete an Article or Book Chapter request form, and click "Submit Request" at the bottom.

How will ScanIt @ H requests be delivered?

ScanIt @ H requests can be accessed through your ILLiad @ H account under Requests Posted as PDFs. Click the "View" button to open. We recommend that you print them as soon you receive them since they'll be removed from our server after 30 days to help us comply with US copyright law.

Do you offer rush service?

No, if you need an item right away please visit the library and use one of our scanners or photocopiers to make your copy. Most ScanIt @ H requests are filled within 5 business days.
